Prior to appearing on X-Factor and joining highly successful boyband One Direction, Niall Horan tweeted that he had applied for the show and was hopeful of it ‘working out’.

Since then, One Direction have become one of the biggest bands of all time and their last four albums have gone straight to No. 1 in the charts.

So yeah, you could say it worked out.
