Back in the summer of 2011, Liverpool were splashing the cash on plenty of British players with Kenny Dalglish at the helm. During the same window, Man City were signing European talents like Sergio Aguero.

British journalist Ollie Holt thought that despite the high-profile nature of the Aguero signing, Liverpool’s capture of Charlie Adam would be the ‘best’.

Sergio Aguero has gone on to score 103 goals in 161 games for Manchester City while Charlie Adam was quickly sold by Liverpool for a loss and has since gone on to play for Stoke.
