Why is a pineapple called a pineapple?!

Now you raise it, pineapple is a weird name for a fruit with neither pine nor any apple in it. Hmmmmmm.

We suppose this can go for most things but this one seems like it’s been thought through from other things already in existence. Bizarre.

What would you call it anyway? Pineapple kind of suits it.
